Q: What does your training regime look like?
A:Â My training regime differs depending on which event I am preparing for. Typically, I will do 2 x Tempo / Speedwork sessions, 1-2 LSD steady-state runs, a grip session & 3 functional/ strength sessions.
Q: In the lead up to a competition, how do you prepare?
A:Â In the lead up to events, I typically will taper (the time I taper for depends on the intensity/ length of the event). I will do heaps of mobility & breathwork. I focus on clean fuel, so my nutrition is on point during the season & I HAVE to establish a good sleep routine, or I may as well not show up! Oh & hydration is key for me too!!!
Q: How do SKINS compression garments help you in training, competition and recovery?
A:Â SKINS, for me, have been a go-to for training, competing & recovery. The warmth they provide in training and races, plus the fit is spot on. I am fairly short at just 4 ft 11, and SKINS offer a great range of sizes. I have noticed my recovery has improved since using the recovery long tights!!
Q: Do you have anything unique to your training regime?
A: That would be a secret 😉 Just kiddin', I would say that many people neglect breathwork as part of the regime. Training isn't just about output, power, grind & hustle; it's always about working from the inside out to create balance & energy. So I would say something pretty unique is my breathwork & meditation. It's been a game-changer.
Q: Do you have any superstitions/ pre-competition rituals?
A:Â Superstitions … Hmmm… I have a few. I HAVE to have my watch on the same wrist. My left laces have to be done up first & I have to have the SAME pre-race breakfast!!!!
Q: What do you think separates you mentally from other athletes?
A:Â Mentally, I am pretty tough. I run a business alongside competing, so my scheduling has to be disciplined. I've been through some stuff in my life, challenged identity for almost all of my life, which hasn't been the easiest, and I think that gives me an edge, mentally, when it comes to racing.
