Our brand view
We do not throw words like ‘mission’ or ‘vision’ about as marketing weasel words. People see through it and it is, to be fair, useless. We make sports compression and activewear garments. In fact, we are the pioneers in the field, being the first company to bring compression products into the sports and fitness category.

Our position statement is: Excellence Under PressureTM. ‘Pressure’ relates to the way our products apply force to veins accelerating the return of the blood back to heart. Our products do a few other things as well but principally it enhances performance and recovery in and from competition and training.
Our position statement also refers to the responsibility we have to strive for excellence in our supply chain and for the planet. For us, it is a continual obligation to look at what we do and where we can make things better.
Our products are vegan. This means there are no animal products in the yarns, fabric, glue or dyes that make up our products.
This is an important position for SKINSTM going forward. There are a few reasons for this such as animal rights, speciesism and doing good for the planet. This is meant to be a summary so if we get the opportunity to meet, we can chew your ear off about these things.
Manufacturing and sourcing
We work with a small number of trusted partners. We know the people that help us source and manufacture SKINSTM products. This is important and we keep these trusted partners close to us. They know of our expectations and requirements regarding social and ethical obligations.
Our view can be summed up in the well-known work of Thomas Paine, The Rights of Man:
“Whatever is my right as a man is also the right of another; and it becomes my duty to guarantee as well as to possess.”
We have a Code of Conduct with our partners. A condition of doing business with us is applying and implementing the Code. We also have complete access to all facilities for audit purposes.
Our partners are also doing some great things. So whilst we have our Code and business expectations, our partners are also positively enriching the process with through transparency and social obligation accreditations and internal audits with Intertek.
Our packaging in store and the bags protecting our products are recyclable.
The packaging firm and the production of our packaging uses 100% wind and solar energy, certified as carbon neutral and so far 5,551 trees have been planted in the United Kingdom to offset carbon emissions. This is very cool.
For the Australian webstore, we are trialling the use of compostable post packs. The comPOST Packs are made from totally biodegradable and compostable materials; corn starch, PLA (synthesised from corn) and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate). PLA (Polylactide) is a bio-based, biodegradable material made from renewable plant material (starches such as corn husks, rice straw and wheat straw).
The most sustainable option for end users once finished with a comPOST Pack is to put it in with their food scraps and garden waste. They will break down within 180 days. If the trial goes well, we will extend the use to our other webstore in the UK and encourage our distribution partners to do the same.
With your help, we will carry out campaigns to do more such as providing a benefit to the Rainforest Trust for the purchase of vitally important rainforest that lock up and store carbon and replenish our oxygen.
We will continue to look at what we do and how we do things. We are not perfect but we are committed to continually develop what we do.
If you notice something or have a view on what we can do better, please let us know.
