HOW DO YOU KNOW A BRAND IS VEGAN? THEY’LL TELL YOU.

HOW DO YOU KNOW A BRAND IS VEGAN? THEY’LL TELL YOU.

Our new range might be vegan but we know we’ve got a lot of work to do.

Now more than ever, we have a responsibility to make better, more sustainable choices about the clothes we wear, including compression sportswear.

In an effort to play our part in reducing our carbon footprint, we made the conscious and important decision to make our new SERIES SKINS vegan. This means there are no animal products whatsoever in the new SKINS, including the dyes and even the glue for the heat seal logos.

Offering vegan products and obtaining vegan certification from PETA is just one part of a broader responsibility to operate sustainably within an industry that is notorious for fast fashion. We are also conscious of our packaging, post packs, business travel and supply chain.

OUR PACKAGING

Our retail boxes and polybags for the August 2020 and February 2021 seasons are recyclable. They were made by a company that uses renewable energy and has a neutral carbon footprint.

In Australia, we are trialling Compostable Post Bags. These compostable bags are made by Better Packaging and decompose in soil after 6 months, in accordance with AS 5810-2010 for Home Composting. Better Packaging is a Certified B Corporation, which is an important reason we chose to work with them. Certified B Corps are businesses that balance profit with people and the planet. They have to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance.

OUR PROMISE

We are by no means perfect. We are not hiding the fact that our business has a carbon footprint and our base fabric, amongst others, is made from synthetic polymers and is nylon-based. However, we are always looking for fabric innovations that help us to improve our sustainability efforts. The reality is that it is no small feat as our core fabrics are warp knit based and need to provide a level of uniform tension under load to maintain perfect compression for the muscle groups and provide the performance benefits promised.

Recently, we have been testing two new alternative fabrics. So far, testing has not produced the results we need to provide the excellent quality you expect from SKINS, but we will continue to test and work hard to find alternative, more sustainable fabrics.

BEING SUSTAINABLE IS NO LONGER A CHOICE; IT’S AN OBLIGATION, AND IT’S SOMETHING THAT WE TAKE VERY SERIOUSLY.
